About Me

I am the oldest of seven, a ‘baby boomer’ and proud of it. Born in Providence, R.I. in 1949, I spent my childhood and teenage years in rural New England, graduating from Ponaganset High School, in Glocester, R.I., in 1967.
I won the local, state, and tri-state FFA Public Speaking awards and acted as State Secretary for the FFA in 1966-67. I advanced to the rank of Life Scout, and served as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 101, Foster, R.I. after graduation.
The Vietnam War was still raging, and I joined the Navy in the spring of 1968. I attended extension courses with Southern Illinois University while in the service, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education in 1981.
I took that education to the next level after retiring at the rank of Senior Chief in 1988. I am presently living in the Hampton Roads section of Southeastern Virginia with my wife Judy and son, Jim Jr., and working as an Instructional Systems Designer.
Jim enjoys writing fiction and poetry, and has started a publishing business, Dream Scape Publishing, to publish his own books, and books as gifts and keepsakes for other authors.
