Viney

Hello all, I'm a young writer that goes under the pen name of Viney, who is often the name of the main character in my stories.

Just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm not good at what I do. Age is irrelevant to me. Other kids my age often ruin our image with their actions. Those kids are the ones that everyone notices, though. There are those of us who frown upon that, who act differently.

I love to write. I've always been considered a 'gifted' reader, and I discovered that I had a passion to actually make my own stories when I was in fourth grade and my teacher had us write as much as we could in twenty minutes.

Then, two years ago in sixth grade, I wrote my first big story, Hybrid, for a contest that the librarian prompted me to enter. I was in the every day with a finished book, so she liked me. I never entered the story in the contest, but passed it around to all the kids in my class. Having a sticky note waiting list on my desk was probably one of the best things I've ever had to do. My friends even tried writing their own stories, which, more often than not, turned out rather similar to mine.

I feel that I've improved vastly since the era of Hybrid, and that I've got a real feel for writing. I've always been interested in the darker side of life, in death, gore, underdogs, weaklings. I like a morbid story where the good guy isn't necessarily a 'good' guy. Science fiction is normally the genre I use.
