About Me

Hello, my name is Monica Carr. I'm of Hispanic descent. Both my parents were born in Colombia and I am very proud of my heritage. Me? I was born in New Britain...Connecticut, not New Guinea; as cool as that may be. I was brought up very strict but I have a very free spirit. I keep company of those whom are both respectful and creative. With that said, I was intrigued by the arts at a very early age. My parents knew that I was a gifted little girl. They put me in dance classes at the age of three. I was very happy and comfortable on stage. I was very good at tap dancing and ballet, so good in fact, that when my parents funds could no longer keep up with my advanced schooling, my teacher, and owner of the dance studio, offered to let me attend for free and I will forever be thankful to her. As time went on, I discovered that I had many other talents. I started drawing at the age of 7. My first drawing was of a Ninja Turtle lol. Donatello, to be exact-- The Smart one. I was the only kid on the on the block that was allowed to draw on her bedroom walls. When I was around 14, I started playing the piano my parents kept in our home and found that I could listen to a song then play it by ear. That was very interesting. Mimicking and copying things was a natural gift, I have found. Maybe that is why I excelled in dance and drawing so easily. I also gave modeling a try at 15. I enjoyed it for a while. I enjoy dressing up and being expressive in a photo but wasn't fulfilled. I wasn't looking to be in a fashion magazine. So that was the end of that. As I approched 18, my world was cracked wide open when I discoverd Fine Arts. For my eyes to witness such beauty brought me to tears. I was never the same since. I tried my hand at painting, and surprise, I found that I could do that, as well! My medium is oil on canvas, reproducing old masters. In highschool, I studied French, though I am still learning because I usually end up saying silly things like, "There's an elephant on the table". I also speak Spanish, of course. I got into Photography and now enjoy photo editing. I picked up playing the trumpet in my high school (ahem) band; by ear, of course. One thing I could never accomplish was reading sheet music. Blah. I began writing poetry and exploring music. When others were rockin out to Nirvana, I blasted Beethoven in my room as I replicating Dali's masterpieces from the original. I knew I was different, that I had a very differnt thought pattern form my peers. When it was time for college, I chose to got to HCC, the Ybor Campus, and majored in Fine Arts. Sadly, I did not get to finish because, well, life doesn't care about your "plans", but I continue to lead a creative life. I still paint and write, as well. Right now I'm attempting my first novel and I'm going to finish and publish it even if it takes me till I'm old and gray...Gray, yikes! Maybe I'll color it. Anyway, the point is that I'm unwavering, so keep an eye out! Also, I run an online magazine in the Vampire genre for online role players, which is a fun place for writers. I also enjoy cooking and reading. I listen to all kinds of music excluding rap. I mainly enjoy Indie, classical, jazz, new age and some R&B. My favorite things are the sky (especially at night), the moon and stars (I refer to them during my role play a great deal), the ocean, lip gloss and books. I enjoy gaming (you can find me on Halo Reach mostly) soap and showers, lotion, coffee, chocolate, driving, my phone and lap top.

My life moto: "Love isn't a feeling, it's how you treat someone."- Me

Change Your Dream

"What is the dream
going on inside your head?"
the young girl said.
"Where does it take you?
Does it serve you well?"
The man was surprised.
Intently engaged in moving upward
for so many years,
he never questioned his mind.
He just did what it told him,
without asking why.
Now he saw for the first time
with open eyes
that his high-flying world
was filled with emptiness
and bereft of real meaning.
His heart had been cold as ice
or raging like a fire
to destroy whatever stood in his way.

Gently picking up the little girl
and holding her at arm's length
to look into her eyes, he said,
"Tell me, what can I do?
How can I change?"
"Change your dream," she said,
gazing into his soul.
"Make a dream that serves others
as well as yourself.
Stop sacrificing everything
for money and hard power.
Listen to your love
instead of your fear,
and watch a garden grow
in what used to be a barren heart.
Become human,
and fulfill the promise you made.
You don't remember it now
but you will,
as you look into the eyes
that look at you."
And she was gone.

But he felt her memory
in the eyes of every child,
every woman,
every man
and every living creature
to whom he showed his kindness.
For that was the promise:
to be humankind.
