Unfortunately, yeah it is. When you create a site like this, it's on a server...and if that server crashes and you don't have a backup or if there is a problem and it gets fried, the hard drive can be destroyed - and the links to everything or parts of the site can be lost. Just like the hard drive on our computers at home.
Nah...they have a nice thing going on here - it got super popular, became the MySpace for writers. It was actually getting annoying, which is why I left it, mostly. Stopped coming on here. Losing everyone's writing would have been a nail in the coffin for them...not a cash crop off of one book. It was probably just the uber fuckup of the century and they are trying to be like "oh, no sweat, just find it this way..." -- and they KNOW that some people, like myself, will probably not bother with it again.
Maybe when I have the time.
I was fortunate to keep a copy of almost everything I had written that was on here - most of it was actually on myspace or my [email protected] (Billychic Files) page on blogger.
Eh...f**k Writer's Cafe. They should have been more prepared. Lose some of the other bullshit "contests" and "comments" and all the other s**t...but to lose the writing?
Well, the two guys, the brothers, who started this site are really young guys...and I think the site grew faster than they thought it would.
