Hello, my name is Barbara.

Writing is my calling in life. It took me awhile but I've finally answered. I will write anything, poetry, ditties, short stories, and am currently also working on a novel. If someone asked me to write about something I would probably say, "yes," and pay them.

After some 22 years in the business world, I decided that I was no longer satisfied with the ladder I was climbing. I walked away from a great deal of money, leaving my degrees and certifications in the dust.

I just want and need to write, which I do between 4 and 8 hours every day. I hope to publish someday.

I am committed to writing with emotional truth. Rather than trying to impress or be overly flowery, what you will always read is my honesty.

I enjoy poetry, whether abstract or concrete or an amalgamation of both. With abstract poetry I try to achieve that balance between concrete and obtuse so that some meaning can be recognized. Also, I do enjoy some well-placed sarcasm every now and then.

I also love short stories and am writing a novel loosely based on my youth (I've posted the Prologue to "In the Shadow of the Rainbow.") I have completed 13 chapters and over 300 pages.

I have a husband of many years who I am sure you will get sick of reading about because I love him so stupid crazy stupid. I have a daughter and son-in-law that I would jump in front of a bus for so here's to hoping we don't need to take the bus anytime soon.

I was born by immaculate conception (that's my story so I'm sticking to it.) Unfortunately, child abuse ran rampant during my youth. I have several pieces pertaining to the past and find this tremendously cathartic.

I have two family members in the middle east so times are tough. We are weary after 5 total deployments and hope the 2014 departure sticks.

Oh, one more thing, I have Leukemia. Hence all the pieces about mortality. Write on!!
