Turn Your Writing Into An Independent Film! October 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009 Now Accepting Submissions

Hello there, and thanks for checking out this contest!

My name is Alex Merrill, I am an independent filmmaker from Phoenix, Arizona. The last time I held a contest like this was back in 2007, and what an incredible turnout we had! Once again, I return to WritersCafe for inspiration for our next project! I am looking to produce a 10-45 minute short film for the 2010-2011 film festival season.

RULES:
1.) You are welcome to create an original work for this contest.
2.) All genres EXCEPT EROTICA will be accepted. Any erotica / similar type of work will be swiftly overlooked.
3.) You are allowed to submit up to five (5) works.
4.) All works must be your own, and previously unpublished.
5.) If you took part in 2007's contest, feel free submit again (Since the server crash I've been unable to locate some of the more memorable works from 2007's contest).


So here's how the whole thing will work in the end:

I. The finalists will be separated as follows: Three "Picks," a first, second, and third - these are the stories that will be considered for production, in the order of my interest. There will also be three honorable mentions, bringing the total of awards to six (6).

II. I will contact each of the three finalists, discussing the transformation of your work into a produceable screenplay. For your comfort, I am not one of those types who changes things around to a ridiculous level. I am all about serving the author's main intent.

III. Once a screenplay is completed and approved, you will be fully kept in the loop as to what is going on, and you will receive full credit for being a part of the film.

I will be producing this film on a low-to-no budget, so I must say, I cannot offer any monetary compensation. This film will be for practice, so all of us involved (including you) can show potential investors / studios what we're made of.
