Albert's Poetry Cafe ~ Keeping the Dream Alive! ~ with Sharon Miller Bolander January 26, 2009 - February 9, 2009
WELCOME SHARON OUR HOSTESS THIS WEEK FOR THE "DREAM CHALLENGE"
My choice of phrase for the Dream challenge is "NOT KNOWING WHEN THE DAWN WILL FINALLY COME " from Emily Dickinson's poem (quoted below).
My hubby bought me a wonderful little poetry book last August for my birthday. I'd stuck a bookmark in to mark a wonderful little poem by Emily Dickinson that will be familiar to at least some of Albert's Cafe members. Here's her poem:
Not knwoing when the dawn will finally come
I open every door.
Or has it feathers like a bird,
Or billows like a shore?
Emily Dickinson (1830-86)
~ Sharon ~
This is a host challenge, whereby the poet who is awarded 1st prize has to choose a PHRASE from either a (1) Poem (2) Book or (3) Lyrics (4) Movie and also write a few lines as to why they like the particular phrase.
THE HOST'S CHOSEN PHRASE MUST BE INCLUDED IN YOUR POEM to be eligible for consideration. (It can be the title, but must be in the body of the poem as well).
Please be sure to mark "adult" content or graphics as such.
Please make sure that you will be able to host if you poem is chosen as the winner. If for any reason you are unable to, then the 2nd prize winner will be asked to step in, then the 3rd etc.
Important: PLEASE MARK YOUR ENTRIES 'Official" if you wish to be considered for hosting. or 'unofficial" if you just want to enter for the love of it.
Note: The previous winner of this challenge is not ineligible to enter "officially" but can enter "unofficially" for this one. (So Sal, that
would be you)
The challenge will run for 14 days and is for POEMS ONLY.
When Sharon has reviewed all the poems and picked the winning poem I will contact the poet and let them know what is required to host the next challenge.
PLEASE NOTE: You may submit up to 3 poems, but only the first one can be "Official". The others have to be marked "Unofficial". In addition once you have stated that one of your poems is "not for consideration" you cannot change it to "Official".
Exception, you may post official and if for some reason later on you want to change it to unofficial, then that is acceptable.
Okay, over to you poets, what a lovely phrase to work with! Thanks Sharon and enjoy your "hosting"....wonderful to have an "old starliter" hosting once more!
HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!
