THE ROSE CAFÉ:

I waited for you until eight
at the Rose Café in Madrid
where once we laughed and swore that fate
would never dare––heaven forbid!––
separate us, force us to live
apart. But you chose not to come
tonight. Your absence a sealed lid
on love. I miss us being one.
