Albert's Poetry Cafe ~ Poet Craft: Form ~ "CAMEO" with Salvatore Buttaci! November 25, 2008 - December 12, 2008
The cameo poem is a purely syllabic form. Seven lines, syllables: 2, 5, 8, 3, 8, 7, 2.
There is no rhyme pattern at all. A cameo is analogous to a snapshot in poetic language that one takes on a walk through life.
The theme should be related to the winter holidays.
Here is an example of a cameo poem.
NIGHT DREAM HOLIDAYS
(A Cameo Poem)
from the departed
we welcome on these holidays
in night dreams
where we sit at table, laughter
and our tears recapturing
