Albert's Poetry Cafe ~ Poeticpiers ~ Fun with Form: "The Short Rondel" October 8, 2008 - October 31, 2008
twelve line poem in two six line stanzas. The final in each stanza is a repetition of the first phrase in line one.
Lines can be of any length bar for the repeated phrase. Syllabic but in English tend to become lambic.
What fate decrees, will come to pass.
No, matter what your creed or class,
thought we may struggle and protest
She's adamant that she knows best
and will not change her mind alas.
What fate decrees.
Fate may be right, fate may be wrong
we have no choice but go along.
Fate will insist on her own way
We aren't allowed to disobey.
Most certainly it comes to pass
what fate decrees.
