Building on Character  December 26, 2012 - July 31, 2010

Use a character from any existing work of fiction -- anyone from Frankenstein's Monster to Hannibal Lecter to Sherlock Holmes to Ignatius J. Reilly to Leopold Bloom to...you get the idea. Consider it literate "fan fiction", if you want.

Any format will be accepted (short story, poem, etc). Just make sure you make it the focus/point-of-view of a recognizable character from popular fiction. To keep the contest fair, I'm limiting writers to one submission apiece.

To sweeten the pot, I'm throwing in five whole bucks as incentive (payable by mail or Paypal).
