DetailsFor February, please submit your best villanelle! I know, I know, this is a big challenge, but we're celebrating forms! A villanelle is a set of 19 lines broken down into 5 tercets (3-line stanzas) and 1 quatrain (4-line stanza). The lines may have whatever rhythm you like, and there are two repeating lines that develop a rhyme scheme. For examples of the villanelle, you can read Dylan Thomas' "Do not go gently into that good night" and my "Angry Girlfriend's Rummage Sale."
I am seriously looking for good efforts on these forms. I know forms are hard and some people would like to say that they feel "restricted," but if you are really serious about trying to become a good poet, you will challenge yourself to write in a few forms. Good luck! PrizesI will become your friend and provide honest reviews of your writing!
