Erotica: From the other side. August 31, 2008 - October 31, 2008
Reading and Deliberating
DetailsI would love to see erotica writers push themselves a bit and write a story from the other side of things. If you're a man, write from the perspective of a woman. Women, take a stab at a piece of erotica from a man's point of view. Heterosexuals, write a piece of gay erotica. Gay/Lesbian writiers, write a steamy piece of heterosexual erotica.
I want to make a bit of a differentiation here. There is a difference between pornography and erotica, and to me the difference is one of character and plot. I love pornography and read it frequently, but the characters in pornography tend to be shells of full characters engaged in delightfully raunchy activities. Erotica to me has more development, more story line, and more plot. It can have equally steamy and raunchy sex, but it has to be in a more developed context. Stretch yourself, and write something arousing, and stimulating in many ways. PrizesAccolades and applause.
