Tragedy Hits Home


Objective:
-create a collection of poems and/or prose pieces (i.e. stories, notes, journal entries, letters) that work together to tell a story
-create realistic characters a reader can relate to
-tell the story of a tragedy from multiple points of view


Rules:
-you must have at least 7 pieces working together
-they can be any mixture of poems, stories, notes, diaries, letters, text messages, etc.
-each piece must show a different person�s experience of the same tragedy
-pieces should be posted in the FINAL EXAM contest on our site
-pieces MUST BE POSTED IN ONE ENTRY�that means all your pieces put into one writerscafe document. Design it nicely so it�s easy to tell where it�s separated
-the whole entry should have a single title, but each single piece should have its own, too


Helpers:
-think of a tragic event first and don�t start writing until you have a few different characters designed.
-what are tragic events?
*9/11 *earthquakes *volcanoes *hurricanes
*crimes *car accidents *wars *bad hair days�?
(this is not an exhaustive list�you could think of others to use�)


Rubric:
-minimum 7 pieces 5 10 15 20 25 30 35
-tragic event adequately described 5 10 15
-divided up and posted correctly 5 10 15
-pieces work together to tell story 3 6 9 12 15 18 21
