Introducing....The First Line (Fiction)  December 7, 2008 - January 12, 2009

Reading and Deliberating

Details

Hello WV Poets and Writers! It has been a while since we have had a new contest. This contest will be for fiction writers. You must use this line as the first line of your story:
"Herman Sligo was a bit actor who played Uncle Emil in three episodes of the popular television series The Five Sisters."

The deadline will be December 25, 2008.

Now, there is a twist to this challenge. This particular line is from "The First Line Literary Journal." Their website is: http://www.thefirstline.com/ TFLLJ has a contest running right now, using this first line--the dead-line is February 1, 2009.

Take some time, write a story and post it here at WVPWW/S. There will be a Ist and 2nd place award--but the real challenge is for all of us to actually read the fiction that is posted and give real, work-shop type feedback, so the writer can submit it to First Line before February 1, 2009.

Now, you will want to remove it from you WC list if you decide to do this. But, this way, we can write and also get some decent feedback from others to maybe help us have a better chance at publishing something with this journal. (check the journal out on line).

OK! Good luck everyone and we'll need to figure out some kind of award for the writers who offer the most support. Incidently, if you (as a writer) would like serious feedback emailed privatley--just let us know!
