Intriguing - Over Dinner
The Secrets of the Deep - Once We Were Giants
Haunting - The Boy from the Sea

I'm spending time in Guatemala, the land where dozens of centuries of ghosts walk the streets with cars belghing choking fumes. You can turn down any sidestreet and meet the Gods strolling in broad daylight. The perfect place, then, for a contest dedicated to the Latin styles of Marquez, Borges and Allende- truth stretched just a little to something sublime.

So if this is a style that appeals to you, I ask you to try your hand and submit your work. I want to read poems and stories that eat, live, breathe, and sleep the magic that lies beyond daily life. Think of it as a surrealist painting come to life. Or, sharing your living room with your grandmother's ghost if you prefer.

I'm a broke graduate student- but I will read your work aloud and credit you at Open Mic in the fall
