Terrified  March 11, 2017 - April 8, 2017

Reading and Deliberating

Details

She hops up onto the ledge in the fading sunlight. “Aren’t you scared?” I call out, desperate to be heard over the wind and the pounding of blood in my own ears. She gives me that stupid grin; the one that drives me crazy, the one I can’t help thinking about when I’m all alone. “Terrified.” She stretches her arms out and leans back, closing her eyes. I can’t blink. I can’t breathe. I can only watch, frozen, as she slips out of my line of sight and out of my life forever.

Write a prequel to this scene. It can be any genre, with any plot line and whatever characters your heart desires. I'm looking to see what you can come up with, how creative you can be, given only a paragraph.
Will end four weeks from the day this was posted, on April 8th.
I will not be judging the contest, it will be based on a vote from you guys, so don't forget to come back and vote!
