Urban dialogue master short story contest  November 22, 2007 - December 15, 2007

Reading and Deliberating

Details

I'm sure you know that TV shows--particuarly cop shows, have made the use of the urban street vernacular popular--shows like Law & Order, CSI, The Wire, The Shield, etc. In fact, lots of crime/mystery novelists write for these shows for extra money. Write a short story wherein the characters use this form of dialogue to move the story forward, develop character, set location. The genre is open but is should be a short story.

P.S. I'm a former fiction and creative non-fiction editor of a magazine and a freelance editor for a few major publishing companies.
