Working With Meter July 10, 2010 - July 24, 2010
Basically, just write anything in a recognizable meter. It doesn't have to be one hundred percent regular meter, but I have to be able to tell that you were working with meter. If it's not in meter I will just reject it because that's missing the point of this contest entirely. If you want an example of what is acceptable read "The Second Coming" by W. B. Yeats. He uses a pretty loose meter at times, but overall it's written in iambic pentameter. I will not be giving out first, second, or third prizes. Instead I will select ones that I think use the most interesting metrical pattern, or some that are strictest to the chosen meter. The poems can be about anything you want. Really, the only condition is that it's in a recognizable meter.
Nothing but the knowledge that someone you don't know liked your work.
