Write me This (Quotes)  May 31, 2015 - March 31, 2016

Reading and Deliberating

For this contest, I will provide ten quotes, from which you will pick ONE and write a 1,000 word story on it. All genres are accepted, and they have to be in prose, not poetic, format. There will be three winners at the end.

To be judged, you MUST PUT THE PROMPT NUMBER IN THE TITLE. This is so I know what quote your story is based on. If the prompt number is not in your title YOUR STORY WILL BE IMMEDIATELY REJECTED!

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, I just don't want to automatically reject a story that you worked hard on to write just because the prompt number wasn't in the title. To make it easier on myself and make your chances of winning better, just put the prompt number in the title. Simply doing "(Prompt 1) Title" is perfectly fine.

To also better your chances of winning, put the quote you're basing your story off of at the beginning of your story.

Onto the prompts!

Prompt 1: "There are times when reality is nothing but pain, and to escape that pain the mind must leave reality behind." -Patrick Rothfuss

Prompt 2: "Death is as light as a feather, duty heavier than a mountain." -Robert Jordan

Prompt 3: "Everybody's hell is different. It's not all fire and pain. The real hell is your life gone wrong." -Robin Williams

Prompt 4: "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life." -Coco Chanel

Prompt 5: "People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar." -Thich Nhat Hanh

Prompt 6: "She needs to have a few drinks and cry a little-- then she'll be perfect." -Tom Ford

Prompt 7: "Civilization begins with distillation." -William Faulkner

Prompt 8: "I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will." -Charlotte Bronte

Prompt 9: "The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." -Ayn Rand

Prompt 10: "For most of history, 'Anonymous' was a woman." -Virginia Woolf

Good luck, and I can't wait to see what y'all come up with! Remember, prompt number in the title!! :)
