When you stare at a empty page or screen you become frustrated. This will only make you stressed and unhappy about a writing piece. No matter who you are, this will make the writing processes harder for you! 

But, a answer is not far off! Fear not!

Take time off, cool off. Remember that, it will help. 

Do a activity to get your mind COMPLETELY off of your work. Don't even think about thinking about it! Play a video game, watch a movie or television, read, draw, run around the house! Anything helps! As long is its not writing! Personally, I LOVE nature. Love it. I like to go to my favorite park, bring my I-pod Gloria (and yes, I named my I-pod Gloria.), and walk around the parks forest. Sometimes I bring my dog along, other times I don't. This lets me jam to my beloved Breaking Benjamin and just relax. When you get back from what ever you did, do not go back  to writing! Take a nap, or just lean back in a chair and close your eyes. Once your sure you've cleared your mind, you may write again!

I've never really thought about doing this. Btw, Breaking Benjamin is my favorite band and I just smiled upon reading it.

its true, this does work; i have gone for walks, sat outside with my tunes plugged in, went jogging, anything. When you're not focusing so much on forcing a plot its amazing how many fresh ideas will just come to you. For me, music really inspires me to write, it taps into my creative side I guess! By the way I'm sorry to be a pest and pick but I just noticed you wrote "a" a couple times above when it should have been "an" I'm really sorry! its just one of my pet peeves! great tip here though, your last one (#1) i particularily liked and am goin g to try out for myself :) thanks.
