Subject-Verb Agreement

just reviewing what my teacher taught me

1.) Ex. My grandmother loves to bake cookies.

                  subject        verb

Rules:

* If the subject is singular , add -s in the verb (regular verbs).

* If the subject is plural, maintain the base form of the verb.

In the example above, since the subject (grandmother) is singular, then we add -s to the verb (love).

2.) Ex. The athletes always train hard before every competition.

                  subject             verb

In this example, since the subject (athletes) is plural, then we take the verb (train) as it is.
