Picking a topic is hard but with a little work it can just come to you.

Whether the story is reflective, persuasive or informative, getting started, i.e., choosing topic, can be half the battle. A great topic, though, is the beginning of a great story. If a topic doesn't interest you, think how your readers will feel. When looking for something to write about, choose a topic that's complex enough to be interesting but not so complicated that you can't explain the story it in 3 to 5 pages.
