Are you an aspiring writer? Then don’t miss Oxford Playhouse’s Writers Weekend and the chance to develop and conceive ideas for a new play. Led by award-winning playwright Matt Hartley, you will gain practical tools to help your writing develop. With particular emphasis on the use of location and creation of characters, the course aims to help you write an opening scene of your new play by the end of the weekend! With no theatre or writing experience necessary, this is the perfect course for people with enthusiasm and an interest in script writing. Having studied under the tutelage of Simon Stephens at the Royal Court Theatre, Matt Hartley was one of Paines Plough/Channel Four’s Future Perfect group. Matt’s play Sixty Five Miles was one of the winners of the inaugural Bruntwood Awards and Mad Funny Just won the Old Vic New Voices Award. Matt is currently writing for companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company and BBC Radio 4. Places for Writers’ Weekend are £50 and can be booked by calling the Ticket Office on 01865 305305. The course is recommended for ages 18+.
