Writing Exercise One

Writing Exercise One

A Lesson by Eliza K.
"

It is safe to say that when starting a story, you have to begin somewhere. It is how you choose to describe that somewhere or how you choose to word it that makes the beginning good. Before starting, it is also important to decide what details are to be revealed and what details should be saved for later notice. This writing exercise will help nurture that ability and help you gradually improve.

When beginning to word something, you want to make the sentence as sophisticated as possible. This writing exercise will begin with a sentence and see what you can turn it into.
Ex-"I glanced up at the photograph which represented an unique man."
"Looking up, i took notice of a short, hefty man being displayed in a photograph."

Practice sentences
"The man was wearing glasses"
"It is difficult to say how to describe the short sort of stubby man"
"It takes a lot to change, but changing is what beginnings a happy ending."

The man was wearing glasses that seemed to be a little to big for his face and a tad bit over-sophisticated for the time period.

It is difficult to say how to describe the short sort of stubby man, except to say that he was in fact stubby.

It takes a lot to change, but changing is what begins a happy ending.
