choosing a book title

I like to use the google adword tool when picking a title for a book. I'll give you an example, and at the same time, perhaps surprise you. First, I could have entitled this course, "How to choose a book title," but, decided the one I've used is more interesting, even if it is off the mark a bit. Let's face it though, many works succeed with titles that have nothing to do with the content. I'm sure you know some. "A Streetcar Named Desire," doesn't appear to have anything to do with the play, yet is a great title, being at the very least memorable. In addition, as Tennessee Williams knew, it is the name of an actual streetcar line in New Orleans.

Here are the actual results of some searches I did on the adword tool. I was amazed that guys did more online searching than girls. I guess this means that guys are more desperate, and that many girls have no difficulty getting boyfriends. The results list the actual number of searches done on google monthly for the phrase involved.

how to get a girlfriend---550K

how to get a boyfriend---450K

how do you get a girlfriend—20K

how do you get a boyfriend—13K

find me love—185 million

As a title for a book, I may use the last one; "Find Me Love." This one bagged 185 million monthly searches, showing that above all, folks want to be in love, or be loved. Yes, there are a lot of lonely people out there. Be nice to somebody today. Okay?

In summary, choose a memorable phrase of about three words for a title.
