Win A Publishing Contract from Touchstone/Simon &a..
Gather.com is working with Touchstone/Simon & Schuster Books to bring you the First Chapter Writing Contest. Think of it as American Idol for writers, you upload the first chapter of your manuscript, readers vote through the best ones, and then you upload two more chapters.
The editors at Touchstone/Simon & Schuster will pick the winning manuscript, publish the book, give the author $5,000 and a publishing contract. Learn more at Gather.com -Charlie P.S. Thanks to Adam Joshua Heggen for the heads up. |

Sound like a good deal...

The only thing that sucks is that this contest is ONLY open to American writers! What about us Canadians?!! ::cry::
Bugger, I would have gone for it but can't cause I live in England. Oh well. I shall still make my query so just to be clear for everyone else. Do you actually have to have finished the book already?
yeah, you do have to submit the entire book to enter. ::cool:: I wanted to just post some randomness but thay wont let. bah :)
I'd love to, but there is a slight problem:You have to be 18 or older to enter......::cry:: Me, being 11, have many doors closed to me, so this is just another letdown....

Haha...good one. A literate Canadian...that'll be the day. ::tongue:: |
I think that it would be cool if they would just let you enter random thoughts. A lot of times those turn out excellent.::cool::

When does this have to be turned in and where?
well how many chapters is the book supposed to be?
That is very exciting. Great idea!

A bit late to be noticing this post. First round is over.
Did you enter Lyttleton?
Yes I did, and out I am.
Oy I want to do this, but my manuscript is just so not ready for this kind of exposure, I havent even gotten a chance to get with my editor... Egads.
Do you know the deadline details on this? |
Yeah. It's over. Or, the first round is over, you can't enter anymore. Maybe next year.
oh well, maybe by next year it will be ready.. for the love of god, lol
Indeed. Of course, don't put too much stock in the contest. There is too much room for manipulation by people who just want to see other writers fail.
Just try to get published the old fashioned way. |
Oh I know, just trying to put myself out there as a writer you know?
it just seems so hard... |
