The whirling of the machine dizzied her, and she pressed the heels of her hands to her closed eyelids, when a sudden jolt caused to to grab for the chains on each side of her again. Stomach roiling, her mouth formed silent curse words at herself for allowing her older brother to talk her into this ride.

A creaking sounded from somewhere below, a sharp wrench followed, and, without warning, her world was tilting to the right, continuing to whirl. Screams, mixed with breathless excitement and terror, banged into her eardrums, and she bit her lip to contain the cry within her dry throat. Sickeningly, another crack exploded through the day, and this time cries from below echoed. Keeping her eyes shut, her lips moved in mutterings of prayers to live, and the sounds were shut off. Trying to forget where she was located, on the now-scariest ride of her life in a stupid carnival, was difficult to do when another lurch to the right sent air gusting into her face, whipping her hair and clothes around.

The screech from her mouth escaped, and a loud crashing echoed around her, throbbing in her head agonizingly for a split second. Jolting her body, the impact seemed to snap her, and then thought ceased, the last one being:

I hate my brother.

The freedom of flying juxtaposed
against a sky full of chains;
you have escaped the ground,
only to be enslaved
by a carnie.

Life is like this... you know?

Moments out of focus...  as you whirlwind through as fast as you can...

Thank you for being there with me.... and sharing the ride....

No one saw it coming. Not from happy go lucky Sarah.

But no one ever saw the warning signs. She had flashed them but when you live in a world of pretentiousness, materialism and self-idolation, no one bothers to look for the real you or the real person in themselves.

Sarah calmly put the seat-belt strap she had cut out off her Volvo, the graduation gift her parents had blessed her with even though her graduation was a mirage. The school allowed her to walk up to recieve her Diploma, a blank one, the real one wouldnt come until she finished her summer school course requirements.

With the seat belt strap wrapped tightly around her throat and the seatbelt buckle tightly padlocked to the swings chains, Sarah loosened the safety bar across her lap and stood up on the swing, her equilibrium to hard to keep to give her a second chance at changing her mind, the world spinning and spinning.

Sarah jumps....her body drops straight down until her neck is snapped tight as the seatbelt reaches its line, she is flung around as her body joins the inertia of the swings.

Sarah doesnt struggle, she allows her body to be carried by the giant swing.

People in the park realize what they are now seeing and screams color the air. Parents turn their children so they dont witness the tragedy.

Michelle jumps up in a cold-sweat, it takes her a few moments to gather herself, she is in her bed, tears come down her face, she reaches for her phone and dials....

"Hello", answers Sarah.

"Thank God!", Michelle lets out with a sigh.

"I'm always here for you Sarah."

The End.

Life passes;

a distant blur.

But those close to us,

those so dear

remain near

and remarkably clear.

while the "staff" of the "park" weren't looking...she took what time she could.

I remembered that day. The day when I was still a child. It was my birthday. My parents thought of bringing me to the theme park to surprise me with rides i have never seen before. As a child, I was so excited. I can't wait to ride it all. But when i got there the only ride that caught my attention was the "Flying Fiesta". Indeed the swings fly as they are moved slowly then faster in a circular motion. At first, I was afraid thinking that if I were to ride one the swing might snap out of its position and I would go flying and meet my end. But setting the negative thought aside gathering up my courage I told my parents, "I want that one." My mother told me, "Are you sure?" Then my father said, "It's only a one passenger per swing, can you do it?" After hearing that, I became really afraid. What if my thoughts earlier became really true then my parents said, "Don't worry we'll take the swings near you." What a relief I thought and said, "Okay". Then we lined up for the ride. Afterwards, it was our turn. I was really nervous and thought of backing out. I did that but my parents told me that it's going to be okay. And I gave in with those words. I took one swing and my parents took the others near me. After a few minutes the swings began to move. I looked at my parents and they're just smiling towards me. At first it was slow then it became gradually faster. I closed my eyes fearing the worst but when I felt the cold breeze touched my cheeks I slowly opened my eyes and as if filled with awe I smiled. I raised my hands up in the air enjoying the ride. At the end, I realized that it's not scary anymore and told my parents to ride it again one more time. I rode it for 3 times in a row with my parents and 5 times in a row alone. It was really fun. I want to ride until the end of the day but my parents told me, "You will not get a chance to ride the others if you choose to ride only one. Come on and let's try the other rides." I hesitated and thought it carefully and said, "Okay....as long as before going home we'll go back to this ride and ride it one last time."

While the world swirled around her,
she enjoyed the perfect moment.
Not able to affect the blur
she took comfort from her safety.

Despite life spiralling out of control
she knew she had her lifeline.
Not able to make sense of her surroundings
she follows her lifeline home.

This strange feeling had surrounded her once before...on Skaro. She knew then to expect the imminent arrival of...the Daleks!!
