As for the forum, it is rather slow for one reason or another. I was surprised to see how slow it was myself, since this seems to be one of the top three most popular writing communities the web.

At the moment I'm working on a few things. A short story that I'm looking to publish with a new ebook company, as well as a novel that will take me quite a bit longer. I have a number of chapters uploaded here on WC, it's called ...

... Children of Solus, and it takes place on a future Earth, where unexplained celestial events have razed the planet. It now lies a wasteland, ruled over by lawless thugs and warlords who fall as soon as they rise up. Twisted creatures scour the wastes, solar storms flay the flesh from hapless travelers. It's a dark tale, but all the while there are fantastical qualities, where energy has become tangible, and emotions do more than touch the heart.

A work in progress for sure, still in the first draft, but chapters are regularly added. Unfortunately, books just do not receive a great deal of attention on this site (nor does the forum).

I just joined too. I'm a few weeks away from being 18 and finished the rough draft of a novel last summer. I posted it on here so I might get some feedback on it before publishing.

It's a young adult fantasy novel, about--- well--- I hope this doesn't sound lame--- mermaids. It's the first book in a series and I hope it can attract some people older than 12. It's definitely not written for 12 year olds. The series is going to just keep getting darker and more mature.

    When Cassie moves from the oceanless Rocky Mountains to a small fishing town in California, she expects the worst. But when she sees the ocean she immediately feels it calling to her. Not long after her first swim in salt water, she learns that not only can she hold her breath for six hours, she has grown a tail!

     Cassie is a mermaid and after awhile it becomes apparent that something bigger is at play. Desperate to find the truth about her birth parents, she searches for answers. Discovering sunken ships and stone tablets written in ancient Greek is only the beginning. With the help of her friends and her newly found powers, she just might figure out what's going on, before it's too late. . .
