Forum General Advertise Funtion?

Hello everyone,

I'm slowly working my way around the site and it's functions. This may seem a daft question, but can someone please explain what the function of the 'Advertise' option is in 'Managing your writing' and how does it work. I'm tempted to just click it a see... but don't want to find I've done something daft or that I'm not ready for.

I'm pretty sure it's to advertise within this site. Such as we see the Tate Publishing ads for example. It does seem to be placed in an odd spot considering it's purpose, though.

Or, I might be totally wrong. I pressed it to and am basing my opinion on what I saw after clicking on it.
