Forum Horror Have all the horror writers gone?

Noticed the last posting here was 2 years ago.   Has horror died?

I think plenty of people are gone. I just joined, but the activity on the site seems to be way low. Maybe they moved on to another site.

no it hasn't died, because all of the people i talk to, basically, write horror. it's just no one normally posts on these forums anymore

I have only been here for a few weeks, but this site appears completely dead compared to other places I have been.  It's a shame really, because my first impression of this site was that it was going to be a really good one.  If anyone knows where everyone else has went, please share the love.  I am very picky about where I post, so if this place doesn't liven up pretty soon, I'll yank everything off of here as well.

i think since the site was wiped by whomever a year ago many people haven't been back. I literally just remembered writerscafe after leaving it when it was wiped. I was very pissed cause some of my writing was backed up, fault on my part but what website accidentally deletes everyones stuff.

New to the site, but will be doing some horror.  Hope to find some good reading as well.

I actually did leave this site for a while, mostly because I was sick of it messing up my formatting every time I tried to post a story. Is it any better now? Are we rising from the dead or what?

The answer to your question is no,there are plenty of us still out here.

     I'm here. But that doesn't really mean anything, does it? I feel the same way when I'm looking through the new books or bestsellers section of Barnes & Noble; everything there is either self help, young adult fiction, anorexic crime and mystery novels (most under 300 pages, and very fluffy). I've almost given up hope on contemporary horror fiction, except for the fact that that is all I want to read, so it is only safe to assume that that will be the only thing I want to write. Although I do write some literature, it is usually fantastic or speculative in some way shape or form.

     But to answer the question, yes, i think they have, unless by definition you think that horror includes, vampires, sparkly vampires, werewolves with vampires, vampire hunters, or ghosts. Then, my friend, you have come to the right place.

I'm writing a zombie apocalypse novel right now. Yeah, I know, its being played to death all over again, but look at it this way. It's either zombies or sparkling gay vampires. 

i finally signed up today on the site, so you can add one more horror fan. i'm working on a horror/crime/apocolypse style story currently but im almost 10k words in (finally got to the first) and another 8 crime scenes to go, an entire plot to develop, sub-plots to develop, and an ending to write. so the book may end up a few book(s) but ill probably upload it once i get it done. i'm not really planning on making money through writing... im too new to do that right? lol

As long as people are scard for life because somene read a really REALLY scary story to them.

i got a slightly off topic question... those of you who write horror, do you occasionally have a bad day and kill someone off in a story to release your sheer hatred twoards the people that pissed you off? cause im having one of those days.

sorry for double post...
but slightly back on topic. would anyone be interested in getting a few of us (like a max of 10-15) who get on frequently and start a group for us who like to write, read and live horror s**t? it'd be pretty cool to have a group of horror fans/writers to converse with daily.

Right here, brother. I was asking myself the same question; also why most of the threads I see are ALL love poems x.x. It's like when us serious people put something out there nobody cares to read it...they would rather gawk at thier own personal heartbreaks then dive deep into a solid story...this is the part where my palm covers my face. Keep the horror alive!!
