Help me, I seem to have lost the will to write!
Posted 5 Years Ago
I don't know what's happened. One day I'm writing all that I can before I fall asleep, and now, I'm staring at a blank screen. I don't know if it's writer's block, or if my short time as a writer is simply over. Has anybody had the same problem? Can you help me?

no, no, no, please don't let yourself think like that. Dont believe the hype about block... there is NO SUCH THING AS WRITER'S BLOCK.
It will come back to you, I'm sure. Don't force it, and don't pressure yourself. If you dont want to write one day, then, fine, just take the day off.
If you pressure yourself to write, it will all back-up on you and you'll get stuck.
Just tell yourself that there is no such thing as writer's block. And, its true.
You have to believe that.
Good luck,
Joshua.
p.s. where are those games you mentioned? Games are an excellent way around so-called writer's block, too.

This occurred to me also. I still don't write, but I took an alternative for the time being on downtime.
It's natural to run into rough spots.
Here is my suggestions to your problem:
1) Look at the piece of writing you are working on.
Ask yourself, "Where were you going, what effect are you trying to achieve?"
"What is the conflict? The motivation? Where is it exactly you lost your place?"
Examine your own outlook.
"Are you trying to guide the characters or are the characters running literally off the paper?"
2) Take a break, like the suggestion from before. But do not take too long of a break, as this will make you less willing to go to writing.
3) Read a book or do something unrelated to the craft of writing.
4) If you have books on writing, read those and or take notes on the content.
(this is what I am doing until I get my room changed around.... need new computer).
5) Go outside. It isn't good to be cooped up all day.

What I'll do -- and Vincent mentioned this already -- but I'll read a book, something that has inspired me in the past. Sometimes watching a movie will also stir the creative juices and/or I'll listen to music -- usually soundtrack music -- and just picture a scene. I won't listen to the words too much but more the tone and feel of the music and let that create images in my mind.
Reading artciles about writing also can help.

I've had that sort of thing happen to me before. One thing I like to do then, is just sit down and just start thinking like a character. Certain situations that might happen to them, what would they do? How would they react? What would they be feeling? Or I just start talking to a writing friend about it and they might just help out by bouncing ideas off one another. Plus, just dancing around like a maniac is a great way to get your inspiration back. It just lets your mind float to wherever it wants to go.

What I do when i can't think of something is I take a break and read, watch a movie, or listen to music. Then it all of a sudden comes to me
