I would need to see an example, but one of the ways that I've used to elongate the beginning of a relationship is to visualize how it would go in life. I hate montages, but maybe that's the best way to cover weeks or months of dating. Also, throw in some indearing items, like finding that he or she is good with kids ... etc... Hope that helps. |

Try writing several different exchanges between the two characters in different locations, at different times, etc. Maybe meeting on the street, in the grocery store, sharing a conversation at the county fair. Then write to tie all of these separate exchanges together and I think you'll find your characters developing together at a different pace.
It's deconstruction in a way. You know these two people are going to end up in love when you begin writing so start with the "happily ever after," and write backwards to the first glance. Try to visualize the special moments that created that love in the first place. Good luck, and if you try it, let me know how to works for you. |

Else, they are together initially and embark on an adventure together - like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (substitute one male role for a female).
But you have to stage-gate the story and that involves understanding story structure - for which go see the videos over at http://www.clickok.co.uk/index4.html
