richard brautigan.... poet and novelist mainly from the 1960s. lawrence ferlinghetti.....beat poet of the 50s-? he may still be alive and kicking. rod mckuen...... pretty much scorned by serious writers. he wrote and performed sappy love poems for years. some of his songs became quite well known. bill knott....aka st geraud..... wrote a book of poems called Corpse and Beans that i dearly love. phil ochs.... topical protest singer of the 60s who wrote some of the most amazing lyrics ever. bob dylan....who taught me that words carry feelings even when the context doesn't make sense.

I adore Plath too.. just not her dark and twisted poems (Which sadly consists most of her works).

James Wright, Robert Bly, and Dereck Walcott. And if you want simple, blunt yet crudely beautiful, Charles Bukowski
