Lookout! Newbie alert.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the site and have just posted my first review, but could someone please explain what the rating box is all about? Many of the other sites I use operate a 5* system with a specific criteria for each level of stars given. Is there a specific criteria on here, if so where can I find it? If not, is it just a case of giving marks out of 100?

welcome to the cafe.
i've never understood the ratings box. why anyone would want to be scored on their work (unless it's a school assignment) is beyond me. i never use the damn thing and always try to remember to check the 'do not rate' box when posting new work. evidently some people like numbers and need the approval. to each their own.

Like you I'd prefer to just write the review, let that do the talking and not have to worry about ratings. I just like to know how a particular site and the shipmates cruise along.

Thank you for giving me the heads up on checking the rating box... I have now gone back and done so.
