Ann Elise Monte

I'm an nineteen-year-old Australian university student. I write Young Adult fiction and my longer works tend to contain strong fantasy and romantic elements. My shorter works have more variety because I find it easier to maintain non-magical stories for shorter lengths of time.

Aside from writing, I am interested in music and photography. I play the piano and sing, though I'm infinitely better at the latter with experience in contemporary musical theatre and classical music.

I enjoy many popular fantasy novels like Twilight and Harry Potter, though I grew out of the fanatic stage once I entered high school. I like fantasy because it allows for so many possbilities that aren't available in our world, and because I can have characters who break things with their minds. I have also recently developed an obsession with Batman, particularly the animated television shows and ESPECIALLY those involving Richard Grayson.

My first novel "Coldfire" is in the midst of a total rewrite. I'm keeping some of the plot points the same, but the original was so beyond saving that I'm chucking most of the prose and starting over.

I keep this image here because it reminds me of Valora from "Coldfire", though Valora has a heavier, muscular build.
