Anti-rhyme Time Forum Why?

As an anti-rhyme member, I just don't understand why people insist on continuing to rhyme their poetry, but take no notice of meter and stress.

For me, the "beauty" in rhyme is the feel of a melodious line terminating regularly, rhyming in a recognizeable pattern.


A mountain it is to climb
each and ev'ry time

I feel like a jerk
'cause the rhythm does not work.

Oh well
I'll just go to hell.


Whoopie! It rhymes!  So?  I've reviewed so much poetry like this, some even with long meandering lines that just stick in my teeth like toffee.

Can someone please enlighten me?
