8 x 8 refers to the number of people who can participate (8) and the number of weeks the group will run (8)

This group is founded with the intention to help me prepare my entry for the Walt Whitman award. Anyone who's serious about generating new poetry and workshopping that poetry can benefit.

The 8 x 8 model allows for serious and intimate critique to take place, and as such, there are important requirements if you are interested in participating:

* Group open to 18 and older
* Members must be willing to thoroughly read and critique all seven other members' submitted poems each week that the group runs (this is a significant time/energy commitment)
* Members who have participated in person in a college or community writing critique group strongly preferred
* A thick professional skin as it pertains to your writing is a good thing to have for participation as this will be real critique, not just patting each other on the back
