Facts About Ragnarok

During the modern age of Gaia, during the worst world war 250 years ago, technology, magic, along with the economic ways of things had been mostly perfected. Truly, before Ragnarok, the humans, elves, along with anima had reached what was turning out to be their finest golden age. Then, the nuclear missiles were launched, everyone retreated deep underground, and everything golden during that modernized age was lost in the resulting explosions. Nevertheless, for the last 250 years, the western part of former Gaia - maybe the eerie east too - has worked very hard to reclaim the technology, arcane arts, as well as ways it lost too long ago.

In teams today, the humans of Sanctuary have traveled to where their modern capitols once stood strong to try to scavange for anything useful their ancestors may have left behind in the wreckage. The result is that man has partially revived the ways of power through electricity, discovered suitable locations for their outposts, as well as improved their own with the anima's army strength through mechanization or self-sustaining androids. As for the elves, they are keen in farming, hunting, along with mastering magic again.

So, even though the age of Ragnarok is apparent, the west side of Gaia is looking to bring back the glorious past. And, to start the movement off, the west has even held onto some of their customs - especially social wise - during their 250 years spent almost entirely underground.

1. Kentarn's Pain

When the wolken fired off their nuclear missiles at the end of the world war 250 years ago, their main target were their most aggressive if not frustrating adversary; humanity. Thus, after having been hit harder than all of the rest of the west, Kentarn is little more than a poison desert today that must rely on the elves along with anima to help make it green and habitable again.

Mind, humanity sees the scarring of their homeland and its survival afterwards as a symbol of endurance which they must follow with all of their strength. Formerly leaders 250 years ago for the entire west, humans are reluctant in accepting help from the others due to it maybe showing they are weak. Yet, obviously, mankind has been weakened like everything else. Thus, humans are not the lizdra and, with humble gratitude, have taken whatever help the elves and anima have offered them recently.

While the rest of the west has been stabilizing, Kentarn took the brunt of the nuclear missile strikes from the east long ago. Even in the end, like the leaders they were, mankind took the worst of the hits from the world war for everyone else then and now require some helping hands in the recovery efforts in the least.

2. Differences in Becoming Strong

As the humans and anima altogether have come to depend on science along with technology to make them powerful throughout the ages, elves have always had the gift for the almighty arcane arts in the offensive as well as defensive ways. When the wolken invaded them with their weapons made from industry back in the day, the elven folk were not utterly defenseless. They furiously fought back with devastating fire, water, electric, and other such magic in fact. And even today, even with their advanced technology, the allies of the elves know to not get on a elf's bad side nor his or her arcane skills.

Where human along with anima cities grew into skyscrapers, hospitals, plus more in the past, the elven settlements remained and have stayed as little more than colonies made up of treehouses, huts, along with hideaways during Ragnarok. Yet, even with their forests poisoned, even with their ways a bit threatened, the elven people still command respect along with awe from their allies as they work to keep in touch with mother nature and master the flows of magic around them.

3. Living Together

Before and during the age of Ragnarok, the various western civilizations of the super continent have learned to accept one another. Despite their many strengths along with weaknesses, despite the feuds between in the past, humanity, the elves, and the anima have become the best of friends throughout this very hard age of nuclear fallout. Perhaps the modern world came to an end 250 years ago. Yet, the alliances of the west endured and now man, elf, and anima work, fight, along with live side by side against the harsh elements nowadays.

The most curious thing about the western peoples uniting so grandly is that racism isn't much of an issue. A human soldier has no real problem with becoming part a squad that includes an elementalist elf - an elf that could cook him or her alive at the snap of their fingers - as well as a Bearkin warrior - who is usually an eight foot, grizzly bear fighter that has crushed his or her fair share of rocks in the mines of the north.

Also, in this world, love knows no bounds. Throughout the ages, there have been humans that have married elves, elves that have married anima, anima who have married humans, and so on. This may seem a bit hard to comprehend - especially marrying an animal humanoid like the anima - but the consequences of the relationship are not at all harmful. The resulting children from an interracial marriage are usually blessed with positive side effects in fact.

Such as this; the offspring between an elf and human keeps its humanoid appearance while it also gains the endurance of the human and power of magic from the elf. Then, there is this; a baby between a human and anima becomes stronger, remains mostly human or anima for the most part, while it also gains the respective anima's beast like traits - a bearkin babe grows powerful, a foxnen babe becomes cunning, a kattish babe becomes swift, and so on and so forth.

With the rise of the Ragnarok age, many things have been lost. Nevertheless, friendship, teamwork, as well as love is still an important part of western lifestyle and everyone participates without complaint. No matter what may come, the west armies of the elves, humans, and anima are united more than ever to protect their peoples and stand against whatever the future may throw at them. Besides, considering how the world is due for a long recovery, the west is at rock bottom already. All that can happen for the western peoples is for them to go up from there, correct? Nothing worse can happen to them, right? Right?

4. Technology and Magic

Although there have been a few individuals throughout Ragnarok nowadays that use the arcane arts outside of the magic center of Lytainia, the kingdoms of Kentarn along with Orden still mostly rely on technology as well as science to stay in power. Nevertheless, in the regards of science vs magic, the allied powers of the west have come to be more familiar with how different they do things. Where the humans/ anima build up generators, buildings, along with power grids out in the open, the elves simply take shelter in the trees, shrubs, and more where their own homes are hidden by the leafy canopies.

As for military power, that is where the races of the west truly stand apart. Lightly armored, relying mostly on their magic, elves are usually the ones that support the united western armies. Varied, different in appearance along with strengths, the various anima fit in where they can. With their recovered array of guns, battle armor suits, along with fighting mechs though, it is plain to see why mankind was the most successful in invading the east long ago and why they are the main force watching the Fated Pass as well as West itself today... or are trying to, anyway.

Missiles, shields, blades, bullets, fire, water, electricity, magic, science, they are all very capable of making Ragnarok a better or worse place. At the moment, due to corruption in the ways of power being the reason for why the world is a poisoned mess, the use of destructive arms is being directed towards defense only. The west has focused its armies of magic, mechs, soldiers, so on, on rooting out monsters, bandits, just enemies overall from available lands that could be colonized. At the same time, elite groups from every race are being formed in investigating why so many outposts, towns, people, have begun to go missing near the eastern borderlines.

Just as they can save the remainder of the super continent, science and magic are powerful elements that could just as easily destroy it. And with how weakened the world is at the moment, there cannot be another incident like the wolken. As of now, the ways of the west are focused only on fighting for what is right, for what is necessary, for what will help everyone survive the future. Never will the west find itself in civil war... hopefully.

Kentarn, Orden, Lytainia Battle Tactics:
1. Ranged Warfare (Artillery, Gun Fights, Bombing Runs, Mechs, etc.)
2. Melee Warfare (Power Swords, Hammers, Maces, Shields, Mechs, etc.)
3. Magical Aid (Healing, Supportive, Destructive Magic)

5. The Sect

Again, little to nothing is known about the alien insectoid race that has taken to supposedly living deep underground where they were not affected by the nuclear fallout on the surface. During the world war 250 years ago, the Sect took no part in the conflict nor have they tried to contact the recovering surface world since then. Nevertheless, there are signs that the insectoids may be taking an interest to how the recovery efforts from the nuclear fallout are going.

And as for how our story here is going to start out, considering how we actually are going to be or have been something like an adopted family for a certain old Sect for the past few years in his cave hideout, we're going to be a bit more friendly towards them whenever they show themselves from deep beneath the world. Just saying.
