Welcome!

If you are here, congrats! You don't suck.  So besides that, maybe we can share a little about ourselves here as people and writers.  Also, I would like every new member's 1st work posted on this group to be the work that recieved the most views (whether we like it or not).  And ideally (I know we have lives), if the rest of the tribe can review at least one work of nubes, that'd be awesome!

OK, most of you here know me, some better than others, so...My name's Alessander - I tend to write mainly poetry (lately it's been more "formal"),  I'm a blunt critic, and pretty laid back otherwise! Random stuff: Pet-peeves...reality tv shows! Seinfeld know it all..LOVE Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Madden...blah

Hey...i just read the group description - are grumpy cartoon avatars ok?   And s**t, really, the piece with the most reviews? I think it was that experiment I conducted entitled 'Kiddie Porn on Writers Cafe'...can I post the one with the second-most reviews please? Lol.

Well whether its the most views or the most reviews, there it is.  I'm surprised that this is also one of my newest poems too.  Guess I gotta get myself in a prolific kinda mood.

Posted mine as well. It's funny, because it's the first thing I've written after being poetically dormant for two years (only writing music, and other various poems that were more like journal entries). It was really this site that motivated me to start writing actively again. Since I've been back, I've been making a point to be more active and I think it's that activity that has gotten me more views for this writing. (Digression, I won't send read requests for my most of my older poems, even though I have more friends now. I'd prefer those be discovered, as they are a representation of a part of my life that's over now. I also won't change alot of them for the same reason. That's what "Part 2"s are for, lol.)
So, a little about me: My name is Nicholas. I write mostly spoken word poetry but lately I've been writing for the page as well. I'm a musician, which you probably already gathered, but I'm more of a composer than a performer when it comes to music. I'm pretty laid back as well. I love Scrubs. I love discovering good music. Love playing video games, I'm addicted to Modern Warfare 2 currently (btw, Alessander, Battlefront 2 basically got me through High School, lol). And idk... I guess you'll learn more about me as we move along.

I LOVE Battle Front 2!  I still play it and kick a*s in it online!  I'm a "darth" on there, who usually finishes in the top three on boards, but that's the only clue I'm given.  Siths must remain hidden lol Welcome aboard Nicholas...I think I already referred you to Poppy who is also a musician.

Hello everybody!
"Gracias" for that gracious introduction, Alessander! :)
I've posted my "most reviewed" poem...Also turns out to be my darkest...
(May be that's why it was reviewed...People are suckers for dark poetry!!!!)
Anyway, hope to read some really wonderful poetry here and hope to learn a lot from all the members!
Cheers
Augustus

well, i'm the new guy. i always seem to be the new guy no matter where i go...it's like i'm constantly in orientation. haha! anyhow, i've been writing since i heard my first Floyd album. Then Jim Morrison came along, who brought me to Jack Kerouac and he brought me to Ginsberg, Plath, Parker, Ferlinghetti, McKuen, etc. i also write some fiction though i'm finding that non-fiction can be a lot more fun. i realized i was fairly good at poetry when people at the local bars began asking me to rant on the barstool after i had written something on a napkin...it avalanched from there. I have one book of poetry that i've published called "reflect shuns in a broken mirror" and a second coming out soon after i kill all the editors called "another shard of glass". my poetry really doesn't follow any rules, hardly rhymes, doesn't follow any structure. writing has more or less been cathartic to me. i write what comes to mind and my subject matter is usually something no one else wants to look at. i've only written one poem about rainbows and unicorns and that was under pressure by a beautiful woman whom challenged me...since i'm a guy, what was i supposed to do? thank you to alessander for the invite, and thanks to you all whom have taken the time to review my work on here. haven't found a first to post here...but will soon. ~salud

it's so funny, no one ever anticipates which works receive the most views - fame indeed is a fickle b***h lol I know that I expected more readings of "futility" and "Roach" but they hardly got any interest, while "the ballad of bobby joe" to my surprise, really sparked deep reactions...go figure.  Anyhow, "Tits or A*s?" got ppl attention, as expected lol  Welcome aboard nubes:)  OH, and little known fact, "nube" was the 1millionth word included into the English language, lobbied by many gamers to get into the dictionary - and you know gamers if nothing else have a lot of time to write emails and letters lol
