A month ago I submitted "The Funeral" in (or to)  a contest on poetry.com and it is a semi-finialist. I didn't receive a cash prize, however it is going to be published in an anthology with the other sem-finialists.   This will be my second contest with poetry.com and my second poem to be published in an anthology.

Congratulations!  That's so exciting.  I was thinking of entering some erotica contests, but I think I need to work on my writing a little more before I do so.

I felt the same way before I entered my first poetry contest.  I thought I that should work on my rhyme and meter before I submitted anything.  But after many failed attempts I decided to go for it and just submit something to contest.

I think you should work on one piece then submit it, don't stress over it.  The worst that can happen is that it doesn't win the Grand Prize and get that extra push to make the next story even better. 

Nicely done. Notoriety is but an ember that refuses to burst into fame.
