The Anne Frank Tree

I thought this site was really cool and wanted to share it with you:

The Anne Frank Tree

Anne Frank often looked from the attic window at the chestnut tree behind the secret annex. She wrote about it in her diary. Now, the more than 150 year old tree is diseased, but online it will live on. Leave your leaf in the virtual chestnut tree, forward it and keep Anne Frank’s ideals alive.

Every leaf left in the tree represents someone whose life has been touched by the diary of Anne Frank, or someone who has been given strength from her message. It's amazing to see the names from all over the world. The contributors to the tree are both individuals and students from schools. There is also a message board to discuss the themes in Anne Frank's diary--such as courage, giving and freedom.

The real tree, a chestnut, has died due to disease but the online tree is made from images of what it looked like. I think its seedlings have also been preserved. Enjoy!

Blessings, Lynn
