About Me

j.a. mills is a writer of poetry, short stories, and one act plays. His poetic style uses little in the way of metrics, focusing instead on line length and line breaks for influencing emphasis and cadence.

j.a. mills' style in his short stories is influenced heavily by Kevin Grauke, himself influenced by Hemingway.

j.a. mills' one act plays are influenced primarily by his own experience as an actor and director of plays. They are subtly influenced as well by the poetry j.a. mills writes, creating depth in his scenes and characters not easily achieved in one act plays.

j.a. mills aims for all of his work to be accessible and personal. He writes frequently from experience with a sentimental and empathetic spirit, often from a distance, for those who need to know that another has walked through the place they may believe themselves to be stuck. Reviews are always welcome. Enjoy!
