Have you gone off the concept of working in the political sphere? We need creative, compassionate minds like yours at the top...But I dig what you mean about just wanting to be happy and be able to do what you enjoy.

That's pretty cool, that there's a whole new place to go when you start on a Masters or phD, must feel like progress.

They gave me a few pointers about formatting - and there was one paragraph that was really poor, I was ashamed of it when I re-read the essay and surprised that it didn't drag my marks down but although they remarked on how it didn't fit into the argument they seemed ok about it. I have both lecturers next year too, so that'll be nice.

Oh, maybe my thesis would have been that Supertoys featured sufficient references to class-conflict, the division of labour, alienation and the representation of gender to justify the application of Feminism and Marxism?

Feeling very amateur here lol.

Wow...there seems to be a lot more academic freedom in America than over here, in certain respects. Is your overall degree Political Science and Sociology, or are you doing two degrees? And you're considering being a chiropractor - would that involve then going to medical school? What exactly is grad school, is that where people specialise further? In the UK, after an undergraduate degree there are Masters and phDs etc, which are generally studied at regular universities, although there are fewer classes and more independent study.

Yay about your new apartment :)
Semester is coming to a close here too, the exam period just started. I only have one exam, in early May - handed in my final two assignments yesterday.

The short story is on my profile here, I think it's called Untitled and is the featured piece(?) I changed the title to Nights Out, made the format more reader-friendly and changed a few things but it's pretty much the same. I'm surprised it got through, I just re-read it to myself and there are quite a few explicit sexual references and swearing haha.

There wasn't exactly a thesis, it was more a basic paper to show understanding of the theories and ability to apply them. Erm...I guess my implied thesis would have been that feminism and Marxism were suitable theories for an analytic reading of Supertoys.

This is me on all-nighter, gotta go hand in two 2,000 word essays today before the deadline. Hope you're well?

I won second place in the university's short story contest! :)

So what's happened to generate distaste for the political science classes? It's horrible not knowing what you want to do. My peers are all aged 18-21, I think it's fine to not know at that age. But I will be 27 this year, kinda depressing. I'm hoping to take a Masters after this undergraduate degree, is that an option open to you? (unfortunately, it costs a lot of money so I can kiss my life-savings goodbye) So what's this system that they're all prescribing to and you're not? There seem to be a lot of opportunities dotted around the student lifestyle, but everything's so time-consuming it's a case of pick only 1 or 2 that could benefit me the most. And I have no idea hahaha. Hope something inspiring crosses your path soon buddy. Very best of luck with the job offers/internships (I assume that's what you meant by organisations).

I wrote about the Brian Aldiss story Supertoys Last All Summer Long (adapted into the Spielberg movie A.I, if you've seen that?)and applied Marxist and feminist literary theories to it. 2,000 words of bullshit lol but I did a hell of a lot of reading, earned my 80%. I'm hoping to qualify for a scholarship of some kind, if one exists. The course director seems impressed with me, just hope I can keep up the same standard of work...

It started snowing again yesterday. Snow conspiracy!! Haha. I dislocated my knee. It happened a few times when I was a kid (both knees), I have weak crappy knees.

I try to keep smoke fun to a minimum, holidays only. Today begins the 3-week Easter break... :D Try not to let it wreck your studies, you've worked so hard for so long to get where you are.

Talking to the professor about it sounds like a good idea, hope it goes well. Yayyy perfect 4.0. I would not survive in America, having to work out grade point averages and 'grading on a curve' and s**t like that haha. Keep up the hard work, it's clearly paid off! The childhood reruns sounds like a fun time - keep that up too :)

I got a 78% for my prose. So I've passed 2 modules with a First, hoping I get a good grade for my literary theories essay.

Currently laid up with a busted leg, can't get to uni. Snow + crutches etc. A good friend let me view today's lecture via Skype, that was surreal lol. I miss it. Hopefully be back there in 2 weeks. Gotta study from home in the meantime.

Heyyy happy new year! :)
Nope, no grade yet for the prose assignment as we handed it in the day university broke up. Guess we'll get them in a few weeks. I'm really struggling with this literary theories essay, it's embarrassing :-/ Partly due to lack of self-discipline too though, I think. The Dean's List sounds like some kind of honour, what does it all mean? Lol, sorry, cross-cultural conversation...

Yep, we break up next week too, on the 14th. Unfortunately, I have coursework due in on the 14th. And then some due in 7th January. So much for the xmas vacation! haha. Where are you spending your holidays, at your sisters or somewhere else?

I've had three grades back so far and they've been pretty good, which is a relief. But I have writer's block right now and a descriptive prose + commentary to write (the thing due in next week). Am in trouble... it should be fun but it's just stressful because I'm panicking. Sigh.

How is everything with you? Are you having snow at the moment? I think we will soon but probably not this week.

Glad you're still hard at work, but sorry it's got boring. Some aspects of uni are boring (already!) e.g. lecturers whose lectures consist of them reading their PowerPoint slides to you...

What's going on with US politics at the moment? I thought all was fine, but a friend just told me about states threatening to secede and stuff like that o_O Are you finding it exciting/disturbing/dull?
