My name is Stephen William Scaggs.
This is my favorite "poem" by my favorite poet who knew it, Bob Dylan:
The Times, They Are A-Changin' by Bob Dylan
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.
I live in (soon to be) Jacksonville, FL. I started writing in the Winter of my sophomore year; it was poetry then. Since then, I have wrote close to 200 poems but I've lost track. I found writerscafe.org when I became interested in writing a novel, so I searched and found it. Looked interesting and trustworthy enough so I started writing on here since November 5th. I had been writing on a poetry only site and I shut it down and brought the few that I wrote while online with me. My favorite genre(s) are: (a bit of) Comedy, Fantasy, Fiction, Mystery, Romance, Sci-Fi... I don't personally like the medieval era or sci-fi such as, "star trek" or "star wars." Though I do enjoy Star Wars, I like to write about fantasy and sci-fi in a new light. It varies.
I was born on September 10, 1990 in Missouri. Practically lived my whole life in Missouri, just moving from town to town. I always did have a problem socializing generally with other kids my age. Though I always got along with elderly people. XD I have a father, a mother, two brothers, a sister, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, two nephews, and two nieces. I have a dog that's ten years old. My favorite color is taupe (color of metallic, silver, or leather.) My favorite animal is the wolf. My favorite hobbies, include: Anime, Comic Books, Keyboard, Movies, Music, Reading, Sleeping, Video Gaming, Writing.
I am a faithful member of the church of Christ (Romans 16:16.) Jesus died for this church, buried, and was resurrected from the dead. After forty days in Jerusalem to prove that it had occurred just as he prophesied, he was lifted into heaven. Time passed until the Sabbath day came and the church is established in Acts 2:38 after the first gospel sermon. I believe in the day of Judgement, a heaven and a hell. I believe in the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit. I denounce the use of instrumental music in use of worship to God. I only believe things that can be based on facts and evidence. I am grounded in my faith. I am generally a laid back person besides the fact that if you talk to me about religion, I will listen... but I am convinced and persuaded that I am correct and that all other denominational bodies are wrong. I will soon be attending the Memphis School of Preaching in Memphis, TN. It is not a small school, packing 4 years of a college into a 2 year deal. I aim to be a minister of the gospel of Christ and a writer at the same time.
I don't generally have a lot of friends because I'm very honest about how I feel and I oppose lying. I try to find the good in people even though there is a lot of ugly in people. I'm not afraid of where I stand, I've been hut before for refusing to back down. I am not ashamed of anything I believe in. I'm willing to the point of giving myself for any good cause. Upon meeting people, I am very friendly and I'm known to give out my trust so easily; sure, I'll probably be hurt. But I've got little to lose and a whole lot to gain. I base myself in true philosophies of wise men. In public school, I'd always question my teachers who tried to teach evolution and nonfactual knowledge.
Sorry if I came off a little brash or stubborn. Thank you for reading (if you did) my profile and I hope to hear reviews on my writings, receive friend requests, and other stuff. ^_^; Um... bye!
You must be this writer's friend to see the rest of their profile.
