I am a 34 year-old animal scientist who was orphaned at an early age and raised by wolves and Ents. I grew up in a magical forest, where I became acquainted with tame foxes, talking blue jays, sentient raccoons, visiting kingfishers, and restless spirits. I've worked with animals and people and nature my entire life, and have seldom lived in the same place more than 2 years. I have been professionally employed as a teacher, artist, farm market manager, TB vaccine researcher, 3rd World "field vet", and animal welfare specialist. I've also gotten lost while touring the summit of an active volcano, so go figure.
My writing is partly a product of having never rooted myself in one place, and always searching for that special place and feeling to call "home". I never know what kind of mood I'm in until I write. I never know which world I am inhabiting until the piece is done. I try to capture, with words, snapshot pictures of how the souls of living things and events have affected me. You may find some gently examined deep spirit here, or a romp through dark humor. You'll find anger, longing, nonsense, and erotica. I try to challenge all those who enter my world. For what is Life but a journey to discover how much we really all depend on each other, in the end, even as we stand as sentinels to our own loneliness amongst the crowd? Above all, I guess, I write because I have to.
I do a lot of scientific and instructional technical writing for work, so creative writing is a nice change of pace for me. I'm currently pursuing a Master's Degree while I work full-time... and do not always have a lot of time. Please be patient, as I do review and respond as much as I can... eventually!!!
I appreciate all the feedback I get, even if it's to say, "Huh? Why would you write about THAT!"
