Tasteless

Tasteless

A Poem by EVERYTHINGyoucantelltoSTRANGERS
"

comp class. i kinda sorta took notes, here.

"

darkness leaks through scarce cloud cover
and lamps on street corners writhe
with wandering light bulb eyes
their flustered breaths and apple-ripe light bulb cheeks
portraying lack of confidence

dimming and frazzling and brightening again
passersby make crossword puzzles around them
their footfalls teeter and topple through cement jungles
and words tango their hips forward and back over concrete
in whorls of staccato suspended like tinsel
from air that drips like overturned snow cones

lemon stains waterfall across impersonal tin roofs
their puddles reflecting back their chimneys
their chimneys reflecting back their hearths
empty-tea cupped and open-shuttered, I inhale
honeyed perfume from morning after rain permeates
air simmers and seethes and boils
with a crack to the sides I let the sunbeams in
and sip time through my vapid shot glass
