Windowless Room

Windowless Room

A Poem about loneliness

"
Windowless Room

I sit here, a single tear fills my eye
the realization that this is my life
the way I am now,
is when I'm at an all time high
music paints my plain walls
clothing hides my empty tomb
I feel submerged in water
like returning to the womb
the walls close in
this windowless room
Life has a way of taking our dreams
it has a way of hiding our screams
it has a way of sheltering our fears
but there is no defence from our tears,

They escape the spherical cage
journey down our face
unleashing our emotions
putting us in our place
for this is my life this is as good as it gets
what I live for now
I can't have regrets,

I have running water
I have plenty of food
money is not a problem
but here I am glued
I still can find a fault
for I am alone in this windowless room
my body,my shell is my occupied tomb
music is playing I see the waves
I feel it crashing
my ears are its slaves
I may seem to be living
but I'm dead inside
so in the corner of the windowless room
that's where I hide
I harvest my thoughts
I spread my feelings
but I have a secret
I am the Windowless Room

You described this perfectly. Even before you reached the last lines, it was clear in the forlorn tone and descriptions of the subject of the poem that there were many parallels between the room and the subject. Emptiness and loneliness are something I believe all of us are forced to battle at one time or another in our lives, so this poem is highly relatable. It's ironic to think that while many of us are that windowless room, or have been, we were all linked through our emotions. This poem really finds that dark place inside of you and brings it to completion. Well done.

You are the creator of your own prison mind and body. I more than just relate to this.you have room for one more?

Profoundly eloquent piece of writing which really touched the cords of my inner spirit.I feel your emotion deeply empathise with your experiences.
The body is merely our casket,a shell we reside in,somewhere to hide in.
Like the flies and the dust we ebb and rust.
The windows are our eyes which reflect our inner spirit.
Thanks for sharing.

Well done, my friend, not a needless word in the entire piece. I can feel the emotion, the tears, the struggle in your writing. To have enough, yet still feel that emptiness is heartbreaking. Again, well done my friend.

overall the empty feeling that we feel which cant be explained... i so understand this one...
the need to be left alone...the smiles which we paint to show the world we are not a empty shell and when alone...all that act falls off and we are left alone in the windowless room..

you have captured the emotion so well..its overwhelming to read it...

Great write. I think at some time in everyone's life, loneliness becomes us. Even if we're in a crowded room, you still feel alone. I'm not religious myself.
But some think this is you searching.

I liked this poem a lot. It is very relatable, we being slaves, entrapped in our physical bodies, our five senses. Sometimes, the spirit does seem to protest against the finite nature of our experiences, screaming, "Is there all there is to it?"

Oh wow! I wasn't expecting the end at all! Admitting that you are the windowless room was shocking. Trapped within yourself.....I can fully understand that. I've felt that way before for sure. It's this suffocating, painful feeling that makes you want to crawl deep within yourself and hide away from that pain. All I can say is when it gets that way, well, you have to MAKE a window in that windowless room and escape.
