Reminiscent Dreams
~Lisa M. Andrade

Ever since I was a young child, I had these dreams
of marrying the perfect man and giving birth
to our very own little bundle of joy;
a bouncing baby boy or girl,
a charming little prince or princess; a baby
to raise, nurture and shower with never-ending love.

In the winter of 1989 I was spellbound with love.
Mr. Right, my first, my last, the man of my dreams,
proposed to me on bended knee, “Darling, my baby,
will you marry me?” “YES! I will.” I exclaimed. A re-birth
of memories flashed back reminiscent to the ones I had as a little girl
dreaming about the perfect man, perfect marriage and a little bundle of joy.

July 28, 1989 marked the event of a lifetime - a celebration of joy;
the day we were showered with never-ending love;
blessed with an 8lb 12oz bouncing baby girl.
She was a beauty, all right, as perfect as in my dreams.
And from her first moments until her first, second and yet more birth-
days to come, I mark my father’s words & say, “You’ll always be my baby.”

Time flew by, never standing still; we grew, we aged, and my baby
had envisioned her own future celebrations and joy;
reminiscent of her mother’s same birth-
right of seeking a lifetime of nurturing, unending love
by marrying the perfect Mr. Right, the man of her dreams,
and being blessed with a prince or princess; a bouncing little boy or girl.

In the summer of 2008, my princess, all grown-up from being a little girl,
but even so, and for more birthdays to come, who’ll always be my baby,
called to tell me that her childhood dreams
had come true; she accepted the proposal as she exclaimed with joy,
from the first, the last, the most perfect man of never-ending love.
I was blessed to hear she’d found her prince...a secret I’d hoped for since her birth.

As time flies by, we grow old and age, except the memories of a new birth,
days gone by and our envisioned futures of when we were a little girl;
We have been blessed with the showers of nurturing love,
and to the most perfect grown-up princess I say, “You’ll always be my baby.”
May your big day be spellbound and filled with happiness and joy;
you and your prince are the most perfect celebration of reminiscent dreams.

Reminiscent dreams bring bundles of joy;
Memories of a new birth; happiness and love.
And my little girl will always be my baby.

A beautiful story. When dreams fall right. Life can be very good. I have four children. Seeing their happiness and success brought peace to my old heart. A excellent poem.
