Drinking Bleach

Drinking Bleach

A Poem by Sunflower

Standing there,
She rethinks it,
Should she,
Shouldn't she?

She slowly pours the bleach,
Slowly watches it fall and seep,
Seep into the cup,
She slowly whispers, I'm sorry.

She takes a deep breath,
She lets out a gasp,
She knows it will kill her,
Suicide teenage girl.

Sipping, she then gulps,
She gasps, unable to breathe,
She yells, she is going through hell,
So she falls, grasping for the closest wall.

Are you okay?
Mom is awake now,
Mom is going to stop this,
But she is so close.

What's wrong,
her mom yells toward the kitchen,
I...*choke*... Drank...*choke*...Bleach...
She falls all the way to the floor at the doorway.

She had taken small steps,
Hoping soon enough she would be dead,
She just wants it over with,
for the cuts were never enough.

Her dad jumps, Mom screams,
They do not understand,
Straight A's, perfect attendence, Always so happy,
But on the inside, she was dying.

She can feel her breath weaking,
finally getting what she wanted,
THROW UP RIGHT NOW!
her dad screams and yells.

He brings her an empty ice cream bucket,
THROW UP NOW,
He is shaking, she doesn't want to listen...
Then for some reason unknown, She does.

The colorless pain arose in her throat,
Numbers were called, and third parties arose,
She didn't know just what to do,
she only knew she wasn't dead or dying.

Oh the pain was something she was only thanking,
she just wanted it all to end again,
but this wouldn't work this time,
For they knew to watch her.

She had to deal with doctors,
And an I.V.
it all happened so fast unfortunately,
She had no time to enjoy the pain.

Just a few days later...
The cuts began deeper,
The cuts were never deep enough,
Oh, how will they ever be deep enough...

To write about some things takes more than an imagination... and to write well takes "knowing". You took your peeps there... and rubbed some faces in the vomit...

To have to "hurt" to feel you're in control or even to feel anything at all is a hard path to walk - and its always alone.

A very powerful poem. I really felt like I was in the person's shoes. The poem was perfectly written with only one flaw. "she only kne she wasn't died or dying." I believe you meant dead, not died. The poem was perfect otherwise.

Giving up takes as much courage than staying alive. A feeling I used to know better than self. Well done.
